Overview of the SBA EIDL Loan and the Impact on The Francis Scott Key Bridge Closing.

The session will provide an introduction to the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program offered by the Small Business Administration (SBA). We will cover eligibility requirements, loan terms, the application process, and how these funds can help small businesses recover from the economic impact of the closing of the Francis Scott Key bridge. Join the Sgt. Alfred B. Hilton Memorial Fund Committee in honoring Harford County’s only native Medal of Honor recipient on Thursday, May 2, 2024.
The evening begins at 4:30PM with a Ceremony at Sgt. Alfred B. Hilton Memorial at David R. Craig Park, 553-559 North Union Avenue, Havre de Grace to raise a replica of the US Flag that was presented to Sgt. Hilton’s unit just before they went off to fight.
At 5:30PM, we will then convene at the Seaplane Base, 309 St John St, Havre De Grace to continue our memorial activities. The fundraiser will feature a guest speaker (to be announced), a bountiful dinner buffet, soft drinks and open bar, musical entertainment, and a silent auction.
All funds raised from this event will go towards the Annual Sgt. Alfred B. Hilton Scholarship, which is awarded through Harford Community College. Additionally, funds raised will support the Harford County United States Colored Troops (USCT) Grave Preservation Project and will support education of the public about Sgt. Alfred B. Hilton.

CHEP Red, White, & Blue 5K & Family Fun Walk

CHEP is hosting a Red, White and Blue 5k & Family Walk on April 21,2024 at Perryville Community Park (Packet Pickup is at 8am, Race begins at 9am).

CHEP Inc. empowers homeless Veterans by providing them with housing and by maximizing access to supportive services so they may create positive and sustainable change in their lives and in their communities.

Applications will be accepted through April 25, 2024,  dependent on funding availability.

The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development announced $10 million in grant funding for local government and nonprofit organizations through its Community Health and Safety Works (CHSW) program. The grant funding will support projects that improve the physical environment that impacts health and safety to improve the livability and economic potential of Maryland communities. 

Through the program, local governments and 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations are eligible for grant funding to implement crime prevention strategies through physical design improvements, operational activities, and through community vigilance and maintenance. CHSW projects are required to be located in Baltimore City or an area designated as a Maryland Sustainable Community elsewhere in the state.

The program application will opened March 21, 2024. Applications will be accepted through April 25 dependent on funding availability. The Veterans SITREP radio series on 91.1 FM WHFC, Harford Community College’s radio station, provides a platform to connect veterans, their families, friends, and support networks to address veterans’ issues and provide information about resources that will help veterans in their lives.

SITREP stands for “Situation Report” – a status report that provides a quick, clear, concise understanding of the current situation.

Each week, Colonel Bill Montgomery (U.S. Army, Retired) will feature guests involved in the veteran community, plus provide health tips and military discounts.

They are always looking for people and organizations, who work with veterans and their families and help connect them in some way to resources and aid, to feature on the radio series.
